East Bay Ceramics Studio

Made by hand,
meant to stay.

Every piece shaped on the wheel, glazed by hand,
and fired in our wood-burning kiln.

Our Philosophy

Slow down.
Make something
that lasts.

In a world of mass production, we choose the opposite. Every bowl, mug, and vase that leaves our studio carries the memory of hands shaping wet clay, the patience of a slow glaze, and the alchemy of a 2,300-degree kiln.

We don't make products. We make objects that become part of your daily rituals — the mug you reach for first every morning, the bowl that makes a simple meal feel considered.

Selected Work

From our hands
to your table.

01

Thrown

Every piece begins on the wheel. Centered, pulled, and shaped by hand — no molds, no shortcuts.

02

Trimmed

Once leather-hard, each form is refined. The foot ring carved, the walls thinned, the surface smoothed.

03

Glazed

Our glazes are mixed from raw minerals. Dipped, poured, and brushed — each combination a small experiment.

04

Fired

48 hours in the wood-burning kiln. Ash settles on the surface, flame marks the clay. No two pieces emerge the same.

Weekend Workshops

Learn the wheel.
Leave with something
you made.

Our beginner workshops run the first Sunday of each month. Three hours at the wheel, all materials included, and you take home whatever you make after we fire it. No experience needed — just curiosity and clean clothes you don't love.

The Studio

A quiet corner
of the East Bay.

Our 1,200 sq ft studio in Oakland's Jingletown district is home to three kick wheels, a slab roller, and a wood-fired anagama kiln we built by hand. It smells like wet earth and sawdust. The door is always open.

“I bought a single mug two years ago. Now our entire kitchen is Kiln & Clay. There’s something about holding something someone actually made — you feel it every morning.”
